Three Reasons Why Mookie Betts Will Resign With The Red Sox

Now that the 2019 MLB Hot Stove season is in full swing, the Red Sox have one of the most challenging offseasons in recent memory. The number one topic around Fenway Park is where will Mookie Betts after he becomes a free agent after the 2020 campaign. A gut feeling is the team and new GM Chaim Bloom will solve the riddle. In the end, Mookie Betts will sign a long _term deal with the Red Sox. In this post, we will review three areas why Mookie Betts will resign with the Red Sox.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            Three Reasons Why Mookie Betts Will Resign With The Red Sox

Homegrown talent Since being recalled in 2011 Betts has a 301 _lifetime average. His other statistics include 139 home runs,47o rbi’s, a 519 slugging percentage and a 370 OBP.                                                                                                                 Players with Betts talent are few and far between. Finding comparable talent will not be easy. If the return does not pan out the organization will be the laughing stock. The farm system is thin and the starting pitching is questionable.  With the organization’s goal not to exceed 208 million look for the club to consider other alternatives.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  Arbitration Eligible Players  This offseason the team needs to critical decisions with several players. Players such as Andrew Benintendi, Jackie Bradley, Sandy Leon, Steven Wright, Marco Hernandez, and the most important Mookie Betts. Also eligible are Heath Hembree, Matt Barnes, qnd Gorky’s Hernandez.

Team Needs To Get Younger Aside from a hefty payroll, the club also needs to get younger. One alternative to resign Betts is to try to deal David Price and  Nathan Eovaldi. Price is in the middle of a seven _year 28 million dollar deal while Eovaldi is on the hook for a four _year 17million dollar deal. Price would bring value in return as would Eovaldi.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              The offseason Trying to resign Betts will be a difficult task. New General Manager Chaim Bloom has several decisions to make. With the team goal not to exceed 208 million dollars per year, next year’s team will look totally different. Expect the best outfield in baseball to be broken up. Not to mention a major shakeup of the pitching staff.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              Resigning Betts will be challenging, but possible. With several holes to fill in the pitching staff and second baseball fans can expect a very exciting offseason.

Optimistic Best Describes Revolution Outlook For The 2020 MLS Season

If there is a word to describe the upcoming 2020 Revolution season, the word is optimistic. Head coach, Bruce Arena guides his team for a second straight season. With two new expansion teams, Miami and Nashville rosters at this point are sketchy. In this post, we will examine three strongpoints the Revolution have looking ahead to next season.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       Optimistic Best Describes Revolution Outlook For The 2020 Season                                                                                                                                                                                                Goalkeeping  If there is one department with the depth it’s the goalkeeping department. With two new expansion teams slated for next year veteran, Cody Cropper may be the odd man out. Factor in his 577,000 dollar salary he is a bargain.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   Cropper, however, had a  solid season, for the 11w 11l 12 Draw  Revolution. His experience would be hard to pass up in this year’s January draft.                                                                                                                                                                                                            Matt Turner and Brad Knighton give the Revolution a significant tandem. Turner signed a lucrative contract with the organization last summer. Knighton played well enough down the stretch to make a solid bid for next year’s backup.                                                                                                                                                    Midfielders    Another strong area ,is the midfielder department. A strong core group led by Diego Fagundez, Scott Caldwell, Luis Caicedo, Carlos Gil, and Wilfried Zahibo provides the team with plenty of depth.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                Players on the bubble could be veterans Scott Caldwell and Diego Fagundez. Fagundez’s productivity dropped dramatically from a year ago. Playing in only 25 games Fagundez scored only 2goals and 3 assists. Do not be surprised if the club leaves him unprotected in the upcoming draft.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                Forward Area The third bright spot for the revolution is the forward department. Led by Gustavo Bou the team tallied an overall 50 goals. Bou the greatest signing in team history is surrounded by Teal Bunbury, Cristian Penilla and Juan Agudelo.                                                                                                                                    Penilla is the team’s best winger. In 2019 he had only 5 goals a considerable drop of 13 goals the previous year. Even though his production dropped, he is still one of the team’s most skilled players. Look for him only to get better in 2020.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                The 2020 Season Outlook Considering it was Bruce Arena’s first year the organization improved significantly. If there is one area, the club needs to improve on its defense. The team allowed 57 goals in 2019 approximately 1.68 goals per game. Depending on who gets left unprotected look for a busy offseason for the Revolution.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    This past weekend the Revolution signed Dutch defender Alexander Button. Button 30 yrs old has agreed to a two_ year deal with the team. Button a twelve_ year European veteran has averaged 20 goals and 37 assists. Button joins a thin defensive group along with Edgar Castillo, and DeQuan Jones.
