Best Possible Celtics Moves In The Upcoming 2020 Draft

This week the NBA will hold its annual draft for the upcoming season. Once again, the Celtics went out in defeat at the hands of the Miami Heat. The Celtics failed to make clutch shots. With three picks available, we will discuss the three best possible Celtics Moves in the upcoming 2020 draft.

Best Possible Celtics Moves In The Upcoming 2020 Draft

Jalen Smith/PF/Maryland

Probably the best two_way defender in this year’s draft. He has the frame to be an exceptional NBA forward. Is known for his excellent shooting in traffic and three _pointers.

With the 14th pick, it is unlikely that Jalen Smith will be available .with his shot_ blocking. In three years at Maryland, he averaged 15ppg and 11.5 rebounds. Would be an asset off the bench as Grant Williams continues to develop. He would also provide solid defense and rebounding help.

A perfect big man which the Celtics desperately need to clog up the middle. Miami literally controlled the paint in the playoffs which cost the team the series.

Isaiah Stewart/C/Washington

Best Possible Celtics Moves In The Upcoming 2020 Draft

This talent may be worth the Celtics trading down. With Atlanta drafting 6th and Detroit 7th one of these could be a possibility. He may be the first player taken in the draft.

Ranked slightly ahead of Isaiah Stewart, Okongwu does not have too many weaknesses. The only knock on him is his three_ point shooting skills. Other than that he could make an immediate impact on an organization.

As fans recall, Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo dominated the paint in the playoffs. If Okongwu slips in the draft he would be a gem of a pick. But the reality is he will be gone after the third selection.

In Okongwu a team is getting a gifted rim protector and defender. He has the frame of 6’9 240 lbs to be an immediate force in the NBA. Other attributes of Okongwu are his defensive skills. He creates havoc in the paint. He is an above _average free throw shooter. Also, an overpowering rebounder both offensively and defensively.

If I had my pick between Okongwu or Stewart it would have to be Okongwu. The Celtics lack a true center. Enes Kanter and Robert Williams are adequate but not dominant By drafting Okongwu the organization would have a legitimate center for the future.

Conclusion

The Celtics own the 14th,26th, and 30th picks in this year’s draft. The club needs added scoring off the bench. My best prediction would be Jalen Smith. Smith is big and physical. If the club trades down he would be a diamond in the rough. Lack of scoring wings costs the team in the playoffs. Its highly unlikely that either Smith or Okngwu will be available after the 5th pick.

Revolution Hanging Tough With Playoffs Close

The New England Revolution is gearing up for a late _season playoff run. Currently, the Revolution is sitting in 5th place in the MLS East. New England is 4points behind Toronto and in front of NYCFC  and the New York City Red Bulls. In this post, we will review three areas why The Revolution needs to hang tough with the playoffs close.

Revolution Hanging Tough With Playoffs Close                                                               Needs To Create More Scoring Opportunities In the past five games the Revolution has won two games ties 2 and lost to Philadelphia. In the loss to the Union, New England had many opportunities but could not connect. Attacker Tajun Buchanon scored in the 95th minute.

The next test comes Friday against Nashville in Nashville. With 28 points, the Revolution need to continue to attack. They need as many wins as possible, in order to have any hopes of surviving the playoffs.

Team Is Fairly Healthy Overall, the club is healthy. If the Revolution hopes to gain any ground in the East it begins with an offense. They have one of the best defenses in the league. Goalkeeper Matt Turner continues to play stellar in goal.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        Superior Coaching  Head coach Bruce Arena needs to coach up his young team. The offense still plagues the Revolution. New England continues to struggle against Toronto and Philadelphia. The last loss against the Union did not help the team’s confidence.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        The Revolution will need to devise some offensive strategies. With only four games left the club needs every point, it can get. Talent _wise,  the club is slightly better this year.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              Conclusion   Revolution fans are praying for a successful playoff run.  The Revolution has reached respectability in two_years. With one game against Philadelphia left they need to send a message.

Winning soccer has finally returned to Boston again. In Bruce Arena, the organization has one of the most successful coaches in MLS history.

Dismal Red Sox Season Ends On Several Positives

For the fourth time in nine _years, the Red Sox have finished in last place. However, with some talented prospects, things are looking up. Priority number one is to find a new manager. In this post, we will review How a dismal Red Sox Season Ended on Several Positives.

Dismal Red Sox Season Ends On Several Positives

Search For A New Manager Since 20012 the Red Sox has gone through four managers. This year the victim was Ron Roenicke.   Roenicke guided the organization to a 24-36 record. Fourth worst record in the Majors.

For starters, the club added more depth to the organization.  Prospect Tanner Houck was dominating in three starts. While posting a 3-0 record Houck solidified himself as a starter, next year.

As the season progressed, the team added Christian Arroyo, Yairo Munoz, and catcher Deivy Grullon from St. Louis. They made trades. The team sent favorite Mitch Moreland to San Diego. In return, the Red Sox Received prospects Hudson Potts ss/ and outfielder Jeisson Rosario.

Several managerial candidates are  Jason Varitek, Sam Fuld/Phillies  James Rowson/Twins bench coach, Matt Quatraro/Rays bench coach, Luis Ureta Columbian baseball coach. Myself personally I think it will be Rays coach Matt Quatraro.

Restocked System  Since Chaim Bloom took over, the organization has restocked. With a thin depth chart, the team is ready to promote its younger players. The most recent was Tanner Houck. In three appearances Houck dominated opponents. Finishing 3-0 he is in the starting mix next season.

Other names to monitor are Jay Groome/pitcher, Bryan Mata Pitcher, Jeter Downs 2b/ss. Hudson Potts/ss. Also, Jarren Duran outfielder. Look for Chaim Bloom to trade anybody this offseason.

No Player Is Untouchable With a poor showing last season, no player is untouchable. That includes Rafael Devers, Xander Bogaerts, and JD Martinez. Overall, the fan base is dwindling.

Conclusion  The year 2020 was different. The virus reduced the season to 60 games. Players had to be tested daily. Travel was limited. Teams like the Marlins canceled games. Yet, the season went on. The performance in 2020 was ugly to say the least. There is a reason for optimism next year.
