Why The 2020 Celtics Have An Outside Chance To Win Their 18th NBA Title

As the NBA season is about to resume, there are several issues facing the Celtics chances of winning their 18th title. Kemba Walker’s knee seems to have healed and is ready to go. The Celtics will play eight games to finish the season. If all goes well, the Celtics may reach the finals. In this post, we will review three reasons why this year’s team has an outside chance to win their 18th NBA title.

Why The 2020 Celtics Have An Outside Chance To Win Their 18th NBA Title

Overall Health Of The Team Is Good   Since the league shut down in mid_March the health of the team is excellent. Kemba Walker’s knees are healed. Jayson Tatum is ready to take his career to the next level. If Brad Stevens can guide his team cautiously the Celtics could be interesting down the stretch.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          Also, the organization needs to keep everyone healthy. If the league makes the season, the club that stays the healthiest is the team that could win it.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             Team Is Shooting Better As we have seen in the past, the team that wins in  the postseason, is the team that shoots better from the field. For example, this year the club is shooting 363% as a group. The league average is 357%.                                                                                                                                                                                         Depth wise, the Celtics have been getting excellent production from guards Javonte Green, Carson Edwards, and Brad Wannamaker. Marcus Smart has improved tremendously in his outside shooting. Gordon Hayward was playing like Gordon Hayward before the pandemic.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      One Of The Best Defensive Teams In The League  In 2019/20 the Celtics ranked near the top defensively. Guard Marcus Smarts is one of the games best. His physical style of play has helped Boston win a lot of close games.                                                                                                                                                                                    If the Celtics expect to beat Milwaukee, Indiana, or Miami playing tough and physical will be one strategy they have to apply.  Center Robert Williams is maturing and brings muscle to the frontcourt. Center Enes Kanter is one of the team’s most popular players. Overall, the team was one of the leagues best defensive rebounding units.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            Surviving The Pandemic With the league set to resume July 30th the overall safety of the players is goal number one. This will be a day to day season. If multiple players and teams start testing positive then expect the season to close.

Why Jarrett Stidham Will Succeed As A Patriots Starter

As football fans wait out the pandemic, people are anxious to see quarterback Jarrett Stidham in action. Stidham has the arduous task of replacing the great Tom Brady. One thing is for certain, Jarrett Stidham will face many growing pains as a first_year quarterback. In this post, we will examine three reasons why Jarrett Stidham will survive as the Patriots starting quarterback.

Why Jarrett Stidham Will Succeed As  A Patriots Starter

Came From A Great College Program  In 2019 the Patriots selected Jarrett Stidham in the fourth round out of Auburn. Stidham played two years under Auburn head coach, Gus Malzahn. While at Auburn, Stidham finished with 25 games under his belt. In that span of time, he threw 18 touchdown passes and threw for over 3,000 yards in  2017/18. Prior to Auburn, he played the 2015 season at Baylor. Both programs are highly regarded by NFL coaches.

Since joining the Patriots he has three NFL games to his credit. Much of his time was spent as Tom Brady’s understudy. He is also facing stiff competition from reserve Brian Hoyer. Many people expect Stidham to play the whole season as a starter.

Playing For One Of The Greatest Coaches In NFL History   Stidham has another advantage that most young quarterbacks don’t. Playing under Bill Belichick will only make him better. The best example is Tom Brady. Brady was a no _name  out of Michigan. Then in early 2000 starter, Drew Bledsoe got hurt and Brady never looked back.

Over the years, Belichick has been a shrewd judge of talent. He has drafted greats like Tom Brady, Tedy Bruschi, Vince Wilfork, and Matt Light. Now it’s Stidham’s turn to see if he belongs with the greats.

Much Improved Offensive Line  One issue Tom Brady had was protection. Last season, center Dave Andrews was injured with a lung infection. In the offseason, Andrews was cleared to play. With a healthy Isaiah Wynn, New England should have a  much improved offensive line in 2020.

In the 2020 draft, Belichick selected three offensive linemen. If Joe Thuney can get his contract extended  Stidham should have significant protection in 2020. Also, joining the mix, are two new tight ends. Joining the mix are Devin Asiasi of UCLA and Dalton Keene of Virginia Tech. Asiasi was the best blocking tight end in the draft.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        Looking Ahead With Bill Belichick and his superior staff, Jarrett Stidham will succeed  within time.

Grading The Red Sox 2020 Draft Class

Last week the MLB held the yearly draft process. The Red Sox selected four prospects. First _year GM Chaim Bloom selected two high school prospects as well as two talented college prospects. The Red Sox were penalized a pick, due to their participation cheating in the 2018 World Series. In this post, we will review each prospect.

Nick Yorke The 17th selection in the draft. Nick Yorke was well ahead of himself as a hitter. The second baseman for Arch Bishop Mitty High School in California is remarkably plate disciplined. He has a short compact swing and makes excellent contact.

As a fielder, he has excellent hands and quick feet. Recruited by Arizona, he may sign with the organization this summer. General Manager Chaim Bloom was impressed with his maturity.

BlazeJordan  One of the youngest players in the draft, Jordan is noted for his power.  In four years at Desoto high school, Jordan Finished with 19 home runs,98 rbi’s, and an impressive 440 batting average.

As a third baseman, he was one of the best fielders in the state. with the certainty of MLB look for Jordan to attend college at Mississippi State.

Shane  Drohan With the 148th pick, the Red Sox selected Shane Drohan of Florida State University. If all goes well, Drohan will be a third or fourth starter. He possesses three pitches a fastball, slider, and changeup. Noted for his athletic skills, Drohan is also a dominant fielding pitcher.

In four years at FSU Drohan pitched 22 appearances striking out 72  batters and finishing with a 4.98 ERA.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            Jeremy Wu Yelland, This player was selected with the organization’s 4th pick.  Noted for his versatility Wu Yelland contributed both as a starter and reliever for the University of Hawaii. The Red Sox see Wu Yelland as a long reliever.                                                                                                                                                                                                                    He also spent some time in the Cape Cod League for the Chatham Angels.  In 2019 Wu Yelland finished the campaign with a 2-1 record and a 3.15 ERA. He also struck out 26 batters.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  The Future With MLB at a standstill, these draft picks may not see any action at all this summer. General Manager Chaim Bloom did a significant job in drafting needs. Look for the two high school players to attend college. Overall, the Red Sox get a B- for this year’s draft class.

Three Reasons Why The Patriots Will Return To The Playoffs In 2020

With Hall Of Fame quarterback, Tom Brady departed, its time for the Patriot’s to reboot. The organization had a robust offseason.  joining Brady, were Kyle Van Noy, Elandon, Roberts, Ted Karras, Jamie Collins, and Duron Harmon. All played vital roles in the Patriot’s last two Super Bowl victories. In this post, we will examine three reasons the Patriots will make the

Three Reasons The Patriots Will Return To The Playoffs In 2020

Fresh New Faces  Head coach Bill Belichick is rebuilding, starting with Jarrett Stidham. Stidham is in his second season as a Patriot Stidham has shown great poise and accuracy in his short tenure. His offseason workouts are going well as Stidham practices with the receivers.

If Stidham does not impress in preseason Belichick may turn to reserve  Brian Hoyer. Hoyer is in his third stint as a Patriot. Whoever wins the job, Patriots fans will be in for culture, shock without Tom Brady.

Healthy Offensive Line During the offseason, the team received grateful news regarding center David Andrews. Andrews was injured all of 2019 due to lung infection. With a healthy Andrews, the line should see a significant improvement in 2020.

In the draft Belichick rebuilt his line by drafting guard Michel Onwenu, Michigan tackle Justin Herron Tackle Wake Forrest, and center Dustin Woodard of Memphis.

With two mid _round picks, Belichick replaced Rob Gronkowski with UCLA’S Devin Asiasi and Virginia Tech’s Dalton Keene. Keene brings flexibility as both a fullback and tight end. As for Asiasi specializes in blocking skills. This is what Rob Gronkowski specialized in for years.

Flexible Defense The Patriots had one of the best defenses in the NFL in 2019. With the departures of Kyle Van Noy,  Elandon Roberts, Jamie Collins, and Duron Harmon, the Patriots added more speed in the defense.

The Patriots have to do a better job in stopping the run. Heavy teams like Baltimore and Tennessee. Derrick Henry had a career day running for 183 yards in the wild card game in 2019.

New England added defensive tackle Beau Allen Linebacker Brandon Copeland and safety Adrian Phillips. All three can drop back in cover and stop the run. Number one pick Kyle Duggar of Lenoir Rhyne. Duggar’s strengths are kickoff returns and his superb tackling skills.  These skills are what Belichick relishes.

2020 Projection   Grooming Jarrett Stidham will take time. But one thing he has going in his favor is the great coaching of Bill Belichick. With a balanced running game in Sony Michel. Rex Burkhead and James White it should be an interesting campaign will take time for Stidham to get to know N’keal . Jacobi Meyers, Julian Edelman, and Mohamed Sanu. If the team can stay healthy my projection is 10-7.

Life In The Post Brady Era

Reality is starting to settle in for Patriots fans. The man who led them to six Super Bowls is now a Tampa Bay Buccaneer. The Jarrett Stidham era has begun. In this post, we will examine three areas of how life will be different without Tom Brady.                                                                                                                       Life In The Post Brady Era                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     Belichicks Faith  Jarrett Stidham  No one is a better judge of talent than Bill Belichick. Over the year’s Belichick has drafted Richard Seymour, Tedy Bruschi, Logan Mankins, Matt Light, Rob Gronkowski, Devin McCourty, and now Jarrett Stidham.                                                                                                                                In 2019, the Patriots selected Stidham in the 4th round. After a brief career at Baylor, he transferred to LSU and put up colossal numbers. Scouts raved about his potent arm. some scouts projected Stidham as a starting quarterback in the NFL. Head coach Bill Belichick raves about his work ethic and accuracy.                                                                                                                                            Whether Stidham begins the season remains to be seen. As in insurance policy the team resigned Brian Hoyer in the of season. In 2019, the Patriots released Hoyer, who was claimed by Indianapolis.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               Two New Tight Ends  The Patriots came out of this year’s draft, with two new tight ends. The Patriots selected Devin Asiasi of UCLA and Dalton Keens of Virginia Tech. Both are known for their blocking skills. Keene is a tireless worker. He can also play in the backfield as an extra receiver. Both Keene and Asiasi will join Matt Lacosse and Ryan Izzo in the tight ends department.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  In the offseason Hall of Fame Tight end, Rob Gronkowski joined Tampa Bay. How Belichick and Josh McDaniels coach up should be interesting. Whatever the outcome is  Patriots nation will never forget Gronk                                                                                                                                                                                                                             Restructured Offensive LIne  Life without Brady will be hard to adapt to. If Jarrett Stidham is going to be successful, he will have sufficient protection. This year’s draft class also two additional linemen. Offensive guard Michael Onwenu of Michigan. Onweanu’s strengths are his versatility. during his first two years at Michigan, Onwenu played both the offensive side and defensive side.                                                                                                                                                                 With the sixth pick the team selected tackle Justin Herron of Wake Forest. At 6″5″ 305 pounds, Herron is projected as more of a guard than a tackle. His strengths are his length and footwork. His weaknesses are his run blocking. Both Herron and Onwenu will be work in progress

The Future                                                                                                                                       Replacing Tom Brady will take time. Fans will have to get used to the post_ Brady era. One thing is for sure the team is still coached by one of the best in NFL history in Bill Belichick.

Why The Red Sox Farm System Is Not As Bleak As Fans Realize

With the Pandemic still halting all baseball operations, it’s time to get into some baseball talk. With the Red Sox losing one of the games brightest stars in Mookie Betts Its time to look at the future. In this post, we will evaluate some prospects in the Red Sox system. I will focus on pitching.                                 Why The Red Sox Farm System Is Not As Bleak As Fans Realize                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        Jay Groome    Jay Groome was the team’s number one draft pick in 2016. Hampered by injuries Groome is slowly working his way back. Noted for his curveball, his fastball ranges in the mid too high 90’s. His third pitch is a changeup that has been clocked between86 and 88 mph.                                                                                                                                                                                                                      With his massive frame 6’5″ 2301bs he could possibly be a late_ season call up. Noted for his strong work ethic, the organization has been impressed with his progress.

Jarren Duran/Gilberto Jiminez cf  Both prospects are blessed with superior athleticism. The edge goes to Duran. Although he does not hit for power, he is noted for his short sweet stroke. Will most likely be a spray hitter when he reaches the majors.  Duran has the tools to be an everyday centerfielder.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  Gilberto Jiminez is the fastest player in the organization. Like Duran, he not hit for power.  Being more of singles and doubles hitter, his unique speed will make him an offensive threat.

Noah Song  Pitcher One of the most promising pitchers in the organization. Noah Song was drafted 4th in the 2019 draft out of the Naval academy. With his wide frame 6’3″ 200lbs Songs fastball clocks between 95-97.                                                                                                                                                                                                        In Lowell, last season Song finished with a 1.06 ERA in 17 total innings pitched. If Song can stay healthy he could be a top of the rotation starter by 2022. The last starter developed by Boston was John Lester.                                                                                                                                                                                                                 Tanner Houck pitcher Tanner Houck is another I testing prospect. With excellent size6’3″ 220 lbs Houck is projected to be a reliever. His three bread and butter pitches are the slider and fastball.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                In three years Houck has progressed well compiling 15-20 wins and losses and a 4.06 ERA. If the season is salvaged Houck could make his way to Fenway in September.

The Pandemic  If and when baseball returns, the Red Sox have their work cut out for them. With Toronto and the Yankees getting betting the organization may have to count on their farm system to keep them competitive.

Why The 2020 Draft Is The Most Important In Patriots History

Now that the Tom Brady era is over in New England, it’s time for a new chapter to begin. This marks the first true test of how Bill Belichick can restructure his team. Currently, the organization owns twelve picks in this year’s draft. The question is .will they select a quarterback or roll the dice with Jarret Stidham this season? The experts predict the team will choose AJ Espensea of Iowa with the first pick. Other analysts have Belichick moving up and taking quarterback Jake Fromm of Georgia. In any event, Thursday marks a new beginning for the New England Patriots. In this post, we will examine three reasons why the 2020 draft is the most important in Patriots history.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           Why The 2020 Draft  Is The Most Important In Patriots History                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     The Greatest Quarterback In History Left  You could say that Tom Brady was the best bargain on the market this offseason. The owner of six Super Bowls Is now a Tampa Bay Buccaneer.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              Relying on Jarret Stidham could prove to be disastrous, On the flip side, many players say that Stidham is more than capable. With Brian Hoyer, as his back up only time will tell. With a minimal receiving group the Patriots will struggle.                                                                                                                                                                              Too Many Holes To Fill   The days of the Patriots putting up 40 points in order to win are over. The team will have to grind it out with an aging roster. If key veterans can stay healthy the Patriots may surprise people. Veteran Julian Edelman is 34. Tight end Ben Watson retired as Rob Gronkowski.  Relying on Matt  Lacosse will not cut it. Therefore, expect Belichick, and the Patriots to be very active on draft night.                                                                                                             Toughest Schedule in The NFL With Tom Brady departed, the club has one of the tougher schedules in 2020. Dates with Kansas City and San Fransisco are two. An improved Bills team twice. Plus Seattle and Denver are reasons to be skeptical.  Also leaving were Kyle Van Noy and Elandon Roberts. Look for a lot of new faces next season.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   The Future   Look for the Patriots to select AJ ESpensea with their first pick. The team needs to focus on its front seven. With twelve picks look for Belichick to draft either Nate Stanley of Iowa or Cole McDonald of Hawaii. The year 2020 shall be one of the challenging in recent memory.

Why The Patriots Need To Focus On Defense in This Year’s Draft

With the upcoming NFL draft weeks away, the Patriots need to focus on defense in this year’s draft. In this post, we will focus on three areas the team needs to focus on defense in the upcoming draft.

Why The Patriots Need To Focus On Defense In This Year’s Draft

Mass  Exodus Of Defensive Players  So far this offseason, several key members have left. Leaving for fresher pastures were Kyle Van Noy, Elandon Roberts, Danny Shelton, and Duron Harmon have moved on.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   Succeeding them will not be easy. Overall, the Patriots were the number one ranked defense in the NFL last season. Head coach, Bill Belichick signed Beau Allen, and Adrian Phillips this past offseason. Allen will be an upgrade over Shelton. Adrian Phillips led the Chargers last year in tackles. He will be an upgrade over Duron Harmon.

Add Depth To The Front Seven   New England holds the 23rd pick in the first round. Depending on who is available a quality pick would be middle linebacker Zach Baun of Wisconsin. Baun is known for his versatility. He is both an excellent pass rusher and can drop back and cover.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       A J Espensea of Iowa would be a perfect Patriot fit. His mammoth size 6’5″ tall and 280 lbs. is what the Patriots look for. In three years at Iowa, Espenesa finished with 61 solo tackles and 40 assisted tackles plus one touchdown. Belichick has close ties with the head coach. KirkFerentz.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 A sleeper in the draft is Oklahomas linebacker Ken Murray. Murray 6’5” tall and 250 lbs is regarded as a third_ down linebacker. In three years at Oklahoma Murray finished with 325 tackles and 9.5 sacks. He also set a school record for making 28 tackles in one game.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     Need To Get Younger Devin McCourty, Stephon Gilmore, and Donta Hightower are all over thirty. Hightower is at the end of a four _year deal. A deal that pays 35,000,000 dollars. Stephon Gilmore signed the most lucrative deal in Patriot history.  Devin McCourty agreed to a two-year extension this offseason.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             All three are valuable assets to the Patriot’s success. Last season the team had the number one defense in the NFL. If the team hopes to be in the playoff  conversation the defense will be a huge factor.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              The Upcoming Season     With the dramatic departure of Tom Brady, Patriots fans are bracing for the best. The Patriots have one of the oldest rosters in football. Relying on Jarrett Stidham to take over will take time. If the Patriots hope to win another Super Bowl it will be done with defense and exceptional coaching.

Red Sox 2020 Roster Projections

With the 2020 MLB season two_weeks away, the Red Sox are facing many questions moving forward. Interim manager Ron Reoenickie has many difficult questions to solve. Starting pitcher Chris Sale’s future is in doubt. Star player Mookie Betts is a  Dodger along with David Price. Pitcher Rick Porcello is a Met. Popular utility man Brock Holt is a Brewer. In this post, we will examine three areas facing the Red Sox this season.

Red Sox 2020 Roster Projections                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              Starting Pitching   With starting pitcher Chris Sale’s future in doubt  finding a starting pitcher is need number one. Currently, the team’s top three starters are Eduardo Rodriguez, Nathan Eovaldi,, and Martin Perez. Fighting it out for athe fourth and fifth spots are Ryan Weber and Brian Johnson. Johnson has been injury_ prone for the past two years. Weber has been impressive in spring training and may earn himself a spot. If all goes as planned, the Red Sox could start the season with five starters.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          Relief Pitching    So far this spring training, relief pitching, has been one of the club’s strengths. With no closer, the Sox will turn to Brandon Workman. Workman was Stellar in 2019 with a 10-1 record.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       Fighting it out for the middle relief are, Heath Hembree, Matt Barnes, Marcus Walden, Josh Oscich, Chris Mazza, Josh Taylor, and Darwinzon Hernandez. With rosters set for 26 players, look for the organization to take twelve pitchers north.  Look for Hernandez to stick with the club. Hernandez joined the team last season and made an immediate impression.                                                                                                                                                                                                                              Offensive Production   The loss of star player Mookie Betts will hurt. The club was third in the league b hitting 269 last summer. Replacing Betts is injured Alex Verdugo, obtained in the deal from the Dodgers.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         The team still has JD Martinez, Xander Bogarts, and Rafael Devers to supply the power. If the team does not get off to a good start, there is depth in Pawtucket.  Prospects Bobby Dalbec and Josh Okimey are ready. Both supply power.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     The future  The key to any winning season depends on the pitching. The uncertainty of Chris Sale could determine the outcome of the season. Depth wise the team does not have much in the minors. Interim manager Ron Roenicke has an arduous task of putting together a playoff_ caliber team.

Three NFL Free Agents That Would Help The Patriots Return Too The Super Bowl

With NFL free agency a week away, the New England Patriots need to decide who will lead them. With Tom Brady, a free agent for the first time, decisions  need to be made. At 43 Brady passed for 4,000 yards and threw 24 touchdowns. His overall rating was 85%.In this post, we will review three free agents that would help the Patriots win their 7th Super Bowl under Bill Belichick.

Three NFL Free Agents That Would Help The Patriots  Return Too The Super Bowl

Tom Brady For 43 years old  Tom Brady’s numbers are still pretty good. Considering he had limited receivers 24 touchdowns is not too shabby, If he and the Patriots cannot concur on a deal he would still be a bang for your buck.

With rumors flying, look for Brady and owner Robert Kraft to strike a deal at midnight on March 16th. If he does return, he needs people to throw the ball to. Receiver Julian Edelman was banged up. Rookies Nkeal harry and Jacobi Meyers were work in progress. Mohamed Sanu, acquired at the trade deadline, struggled to learn the system. With offseason help, Brady could stir New England back to the Super Bowl.
Derrick Henry The interesting aspect of Derrick Henry is his 1,187,000 dollar cap hit. Henry would be a steal for the right situation. He literally ran all over the Patriots in their wild _card win over the Patriots.
With Henry’s size, he would take tremendous pressure off of Brady. Drafted in 2016 by Tennessee,  his career numbers are 3833 yards, rushing and  38 touchdowns.
Logan Ryan  With safety Devin McCourty a free Logan Ryan would be a perfect fit. Drafted by Bill Belichick in2013 Ryan is familiar with the Patriots system.  Career _wise Ryan has 78 pass deflections,11 sacks, and 17 interceptions. With a 9.500,000 dollar cap hit Ryan would be a deal.

The Offseason The 2020 offseason could be the most important in Patriot history Whether or not to sign the greatest football player in NFL history. If a deal cannot get done with Brady, either a free agent or Jarrett Stidham is an option.
Whoever the quarterback is he needs to be surrounded by quality receivers. Look for the Patriots to spend a lot of money in free agency. The team finished a respectable 12-4 last season, with sensible signings Super Bowl seven may be in reach.
