Revolution Struggling As the 2022 Season Intensifies

The New England Revolution is struggling as the 2022 MLS season intensifies The New England Revolution is struggling as the 2022 season intensifies. After, two months, the team is ranked fourteenth in the MLS power rankings. With Matt Turner and now Adam Buksa rumored to be leaving, the team needs every point it can get. Currently, the club sits in eleventh place in the MLS East. There is a three _way tie with Charlotte, Columbus, and Atlanta for eighth place. In this post, we will evaluate three areas’ the club needs to focus on as the season advances.

Goalkeeping Issues

This is one area that the Revolution shined in last season. The club will lose star goalkeeper Matt Turner in about a month. Turner is heading to the English Premier League. Last season, Turner was the best goalkeeper in the Jacob Jackson..

Depthwise, the team is OK with Brad Knighton and Earl Edwards. The number one pick Jacob Jackson is a fast learner and will be successful in time. It appears that Knighton has the edge over Edwards as the starting goalkeeper.

In, thirteen games this season Jackson has yet to make an appearance. That will change when Turner departs in about a month.

Scoring Issues

Currently, the Revolution ranks eleventh in the standings in the Eastern Conference. Overall, the club has twenty two_goals. If Buksa, leaves, his absence will be strongly felt. Other contributors are Carlos Gil, Sebastian Lietget, and Brandon Bye. The Revolution will need a total team effort as the season progresses.

Solid Defensive Group

If there is one area of strength it’s the defense. The club is one of the top five teams ranked defensively. Defenders Andrew Farrell, Omar Gonzalez, Henry Kessler, and DeJuan Jones give the goalkeepers plenty of protection. Although they lack offense this department is going to determine the success of the 2022 season.

Conclusion

Considering the losses of Buksa and Turner, the team should be competitive in the future A lot of hinges on the progress of Jacob Jackson. But like any rookie, it will take time. With a solid defensive unit and Bruce Arena at the helm, there is still a lot of potential for a winning season.

Revolution Gearing Up For Another Championship Run

The New England Revolution is gearing up for another championship run. After a heartbreaking loss 1-0 to Columbus in the 2020 finals, the club looks forward to 2021. Last season, the Revolution finished 8th in the East. After a thrilling 2-0 victory over the Philadelphia Union, fans left heartbroken in the finals. With some new faces, the team looks to pick up where it left off last year.

Depth On Defense

The organization added defender John Bell in the offseason. Bell was selected by the San Jose Earthquake, in the 2020 MLS Super Draft. He is extremely fast and has superior passing skills. He will provide solid depth to the defensive unit.

In other moves, the team added midfielder Lucas Felix, also known as Maciel. Maciel is from Brazil. He was a ten_ year veteran of the famous Botafogo soccer academy. He has a World Championship on his resume.

Also joining the team were midfielder Wilfred Khartoum. Kaptoum is a Cameroonian football player. He is experienced in the world soccer community with over 100 professional appearances. With all the off _season activity, the Revolution improved from last season.

Nucleus Is Still Together

With the off_ season additions, the club’s nucleus is still together. The group of Teal Bunbury, Gustavo Bou, Adam Buksa, Carlos Gil, Andrew Farrell, Matt Polster, Matt Turner, Taejon Buchanon, and Brad Knighton provide the skill and experience to be a serious contender.

Superior Goalkeeping

The strength of this club is goalkeeping. The Revolution is blessed to have the league’s best goalkeeper in Matt Turner. Turner made 22 appearances in 2020. Overall, he posted an 8-7-7 record. He was also voted MLS player of the week three times. Reserves Brad Knighton and Earl EdwardsJr provide capable backup.

Conclusion

The difference between this year’s roster and last is its depth. The defense is vastly improved. With, two new mid _fielders the Revolution is in position to make a deep playoff run.

Optimistic Best Describes Revolution Outlook For The 2020 MLS Season

If there is a word to describe the upcoming 2020 Revolution season, the word is optimistic. Head coach, Bruce Arena guides his team for a second straight season. With two new expansion teams, Miami and Nashville rosters at this point are sketchy. In this post, we will examine three strongpoints the Revolution have looking ahead to next season.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       Optimistic Best Describes Revolution Outlook For The 2020 Season                                                                                                                                                                                                Goalkeeping  If there is one department with the depth it’s the goalkeeping department. With two new expansion teams slated for next year veteran, Cody Cropper may be the odd man out. Factor in his 577,000 dollar salary he is a bargain.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   Cropper, however, had a  solid season, for the 11w 11l 12 Draw  Revolution. His experience would be hard to pass up in this year’s January draft.                                                                                                                                                                                                            Matt Turner and Brad Knighton give the Revolution a significant tandem. Turner signed a lucrative contract with the organization last summer. Knighton played well enough down the stretch to make a solid bid for next year’s backup.                                                                                                                                                    Midfielders    Another strong area ,is the midfielder department. A strong core group led by Diego Fagundez, Scott Caldwell, Luis Caicedo, Carlos Gil, and Wilfried Zahibo provides the team with plenty of depth.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                Players on the bubble could be veterans Scott Caldwell and Diego Fagundez. Fagundez’s productivity dropped dramatically from a year ago. Playing in only 25 games Fagundez scored only 2goals and 3 assists. Do not be surprised if the club leaves him unprotected in the upcoming draft.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                Forward Area The third bright spot for the revolution is the forward department. Led by Gustavo Bou the team tallied an overall 50 goals. Bou the greatest signing in team history is surrounded by Teal Bunbury, Cristian Penilla and Juan Agudelo.                                                                                                                                    Penilla is the team’s best winger. In 2019 he had only 5 goals a considerable drop of 13 goals the previous year. Even though his production dropped, he is still one of the team’s most skilled players. Look for him only to get better in 2020.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                The 2020 Season Outlook Considering it was Bruce Arena’s first year the organization improved significantly. If there is one area, the club needs to improve on its defense. The team allowed 57 goals in 2019 approximately 1.68 goals per game. Depending on who gets left unprotected look for a busy offseason for the Revolution.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    This past weekend the Revolution signed Dutch defender Alexander Button. Button 30 yrs old has agreed to a two_ year deal with the team. Button a twelve_ year European veteran has averaged 20 goals and 37 assists. Button joins a thin defensive group along with Edgar Castillo, and DeQuan Jones.

Despite Sinking in the Standings Revolution’s Hopes Remain Positive

With only twenty nine games left in th 2017 MLS soccer season, the New England Revolution, seem to be on the outside looking in. Standings wise the Revolution have not been gaining any ground at all in the Eastern Conference.                                                                                                                                                   Attitude wise the club remains positive. Tenth place has been the home for the Revolution all year. With an 8-12 record the Revolution need to win all nine remaing games. Anything less will result in no playoffs.                                                                                                                                                                                                                          Desire has been the missing element this season. Several players have stressed that the talk needs to stop and wins need to come. The Revolution have had a realitively weak attack a;; season.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          Head coach Jay Heaps can feel the fans frustration on a nightly basis. The Revolution continue to play back on it’s heels  Moving the ball consistently just hasn’t been their. Without offensive pressure the season could be over soon.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       Goal tending has been one bright spot for the Revolution. Cody Cropper has been outstanding. With six shutouts to his credit he’s kept the season in tact.Cropper is one of the best in the M,LS with 57 saves to his credit. Backup Brad Knighton has spelled Cropper and has been also impressive.                                                                                                                                                                            Lack of offense has been the main issue for the Revolution this season. Saturday for example was a typical loss for the Revolution. A 2-1 loss at the hands of DC United.Getting a convincing win hasn’t been happening for the Revolution.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        Defensively the team has been been pretty stable. With most games decided by one goal the Revolution have been in most games.  The team has kept the sore tight for most of the season. Defender Scott Caldwell has been the Teams best defender. Caldwell was also injured missing a few weeks in the middle of the season.                                                                                                                                                                                                                               League wise the Revolution aren’t that bad. The just can’t seem to gain any ground and catch the Montreal Impact 7th place 36 points.  With nine games left the Revolution need to need to play every game with desire. If they don’t they finish the season in tenth place or less in the standings .
