Revolution Hanging Tough With Playoffs Close

The New England Revolution is gearing up for a late _season playoff run. Currently, the Revolution is sitting in 5th place in the MLS East. New England is 4points behind Toronto and in front of NYCFC  and the New York City Red Bulls. In this post, we will review three areas why The Revolution needs to hang tough with the playoffs close.

Revolution Hanging Tough With Playoffs Close                                                               Needs To Create More Scoring Opportunities In the past five games the Revolution has won two games ties 2 and lost to Philadelphia. In the loss to the Union, New England had many opportunities but could not connect. Attacker Tajun Buchanon scored in the 95th minute.

The next test comes Friday against Nashville in Nashville. With 28 points, the Revolution need to continue to attack. They need as many wins as possible, in order to have any hopes of surviving the playoffs.

Team Is Fairly Healthy Overall, the club is healthy. If the Revolution hopes to gain any ground in the East it begins with an offense. They have one of the best defenses in the league. Goalkeeper Matt Turner continues to play stellar in goal.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        Superior Coaching  Head coach Bruce Arena needs to coach up his young team. The offense still plagues the Revolution. New England continues to struggle against Toronto and Philadelphia. The last loss against the Union did not help the team’s confidence.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        The Revolution will need to devise some offensive strategies. With only four games left the club needs every point, it can get. Talent _wise,  the club is slightly better this year.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              Conclusion   Revolution fans are praying for a successful playoff run.  The Revolution has reached respectability in two_years. With one game against Philadelphia left they need to send a message.

Winning soccer has finally returned to Boston again. In Bruce Arena, the organization has one of the most successful coaches in MLS history.

Revolution Return From Pandemic Break With A Quest For The Playoffs

The  New England Revolution returned from the pandemic break in hope of earning a playoff spot. Sunday, the team advanced to the knockout round with a 0-0 tie with Toronto. In this post, we will evaluate three reasons why the Revolution has a chance at the playoffs.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    Revolution Return From The Pandemic Break, With A Quest For The Playoffs

Advance To The Knockout Round  Sunday the Revolution earned a 0-0 tie with Toronto. This means the Revolution advance to the knockout round. Also, Sunday’s effort was the last outing in games with group C

The Revolution is currently tied with Toronto. Each team has five points. Saturday the Revolution will face Philadelphia as the playoff hunt continues.

Superior Goaltending  Goalkeeper Matt Turner continues to be excellent. In four games this year, Turner is 1-1-2  and a GAA of 7. Reserve goalkeepers Brad Knighton and Jeff Caldwell have yet to see action this season.

In two Turner has played in 48 straight games. Since he signed as a free agent in 2019 his overall record is 16-15 16. If the Revolution hope to make a statement Turner is a key factor for the Revolution.

Well balanced  In order to advance past the knockout round, the offense needs to crank it up. Gustavo Bou is the team’s leading striker with 22 shots. Eight have been on goal. To his credit, he has one goal.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         Along with Gustavo Bou, the club gets significant performances from Diego Fagundez, Teal Bunbury, and Adam Buksa. Defensively Andrew Farrell and Scott Caldwell continue to be on of the leagues best.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             Looking Ahead If the players stay safe and healthy, the remainder of the season will be interesting.  Head coach Bruce Arena continues to put an exciting team on the field. The team MVP is Matt Turner. However, he can’t do it alone. The scoring continues to be an issue. Defensively the team is one of the leagues best. If they can put it together, a playoff spot is a strong possibility.

Optimistic Best Describes Revolution Outlook For The 2020 MLS Season

If there is a word to describe the upcoming 2020 Revolution season, the word is optimistic. Head coach, Bruce Arena guides his team for a second straight season. With two new expansion teams, Miami and Nashville rosters at this point are sketchy. In this post, we will examine three strongpoints the Revolution have looking ahead to next season.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       Optimistic Best Describes Revolution Outlook For The 2020 Season                                                                                                                                                                                                Goalkeeping  If there is one department with the depth it’s the goalkeeping department. With two new expansion teams slated for next year veteran, Cody Cropper may be the odd man out. Factor in his 577,000 dollar salary he is a bargain.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   Cropper, however, had a  solid season, for the 11w 11l 12 Draw  Revolution. His experience would be hard to pass up in this year’s January draft.                                                                                                                                                                                                            Matt Turner and Brad Knighton give the Revolution a significant tandem. Turner signed a lucrative contract with the organization last summer. Knighton played well enough down the stretch to make a solid bid for next year’s backup.                                                                                                                                                    Midfielders    Another strong area ,is the midfielder department. A strong core group led by Diego Fagundez, Scott Caldwell, Luis Caicedo, Carlos Gil, and Wilfried Zahibo provides the team with plenty of depth.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                Players on the bubble could be veterans Scott Caldwell and Diego Fagundez. Fagundez’s productivity dropped dramatically from a year ago. Playing in only 25 games Fagundez scored only 2goals and 3 assists. Do not be surprised if the club leaves him unprotected in the upcoming draft.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                Forward Area The third bright spot for the revolution is the forward department. Led by Gustavo Bou the team tallied an overall 50 goals. Bou the greatest signing in team history is surrounded by Teal Bunbury, Cristian Penilla and Juan Agudelo.                                                                                                                                    Penilla is the team’s best winger. In 2019 he had only 5 goals a considerable drop of 13 goals the previous year. Even though his production dropped, he is still one of the team’s most skilled players. Look for him only to get better in 2020.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                The 2020 Season Outlook Considering it was Bruce Arena’s first year the organization improved significantly. If there is one area, the club needs to improve on its defense. The team allowed 57 goals in 2019 approximately 1.68 goals per game. Depending on who gets left unprotected look for a busy offseason for the Revolution.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    This past weekend the Revolution signed Dutch defender Alexander Button. Button 30 yrs old has agreed to a two_ year deal with the team. Button a twelve_ year European veteran has averaged 20 goals and 37 assists. Button joins a thin defensive group along with Edgar Castillo, and DeQuan Jones.

Revolution Gearing Up For Playoffs With An Impressive Win Over New York City

The Revolution have secured the fourth playoff spot with a 2-0 win over New York City. Superb goaltending by Matt Turner Earned The Revolution their first playoff berth since 2007. Turner’s shutout New York and the Revolution have remained undefeated since an August 9th loss to the LA Galaxy. In this post, we will examine three areas that have propelled the Revolution’s success this season.

Revolution Gearing Up  For P layoffs  After An Impressive 2-0 Win Over New York City

Mid _season Shakeup  Midway through the 2019 season, the Revolution dismissed head coach Brad Friedel and replaced him with Bruce Arena. In hiring Arena, The Revolution got one of the most successful coaches in MLS history.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   Since hiring Arena, the Revolution has enjoyed an eleven game unbeaten streak. Their last loss was August ninth at the hands of the LA Galaxy. As a coach Arena is one of the most successful coaches in MLS history. His work ethic and professionalism have impacted the performance of the Revolution significantly this season.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             Balanced Roster   With one game remaining this season, the Revolution enter the playoffs with a well_ balanced roster.  Goalkeeping is the strength of the team’s roster. Veteran Cody Cropper, along with Matt Turner and Brad Knighton provide depth.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              As a team, the Revolution ranks fifth in the MLS in scoring. In 2019 the team scored 49 goals and 50 assists.  Offensively, Carlos Gil, Gustavo Bou, Teal Bumbry, Juan Oquendo, and Diego Fagundez are a threat to any team.                                                                                                                                                                                                 Defensively, the organization gave up 1.64 GAA this season. Led by Andy Farrell and Scott Caldwell the Revolution have one of the best defenses in the league.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   Lot Of Character  Since Bruce Arena took over the Revolution have played with grit and character. The team has enjoyed an eleven hame unbeaten streak. Goalkeeper Matt Turner’s  2-0 shutout over New York City is just one example of great things to come under the new regime.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      The Playoffs  It’s been twelve year’s since Revolution fans  have enjoyed a playoff soccer team in Foxborough.  In 2019 the club had an 8-4 record at home and  a 3-8-5  record on the road. Like any sport  championship teams find way’s to win  at both home and on the road.

Revolution Shakeup Points The Organization in the Right Direction

The recent firing of Revolution coach Brad Friedel marks the beginning of a new era for the New England Revolution. The 2019 season has been somewhat of a disappointment for Revolution fans. Currently, the club sits in eleventh place in the MLS soccer standings. This month the Kraft family decided to go in another direction and hired well respected Bruce Arena to guide the organization. As a coach, Arena is one of the most successful coaches in soccer history. In this post, we will review three why hiring Bruce Arena is a step in the right direction.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      One Of The Most Successful Coaches In MLS history                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  In Arena, New England gets one of the most successful coaches in soccer history. His resume includes five  MLS Cup championships. Three with the LA Galaxy in 2011, 2912,  and 2014.  Also, a Supporters Cup Shield in 2011.                                                                                                                                                                                             The decision to fire  Brad Friedel came as a result of another slow start by the Revolution.  Friedel compiled a 12-21-13  record in his brief tenure as head coach, Certainly not good enough to compete for a world cup.                                                                                                                                                                                                               For the past five seasons, the Revolution have been struggling at the bottom. Currently, the Revolution are 4-8-4 and stand in 11th place in the MLS East. With Arenas, winning history fans can expect a total housecleaning.                                                                                                                                                                                   Impressive Resume    Another reason for the hiring of Arena, was his remarkable resume. He began his coaching career after graduating from Cornell in the late sixties. At Cornell. he participated in soccer and was the team’s goalkeeper for four years.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            As for his coaching experience, Arena has had a brilliant career coaching the LA Galaxy, DC United, and NY Red Bulls.  In Los Angeles Arena guided the Galaxy to three MLS titles Also, in 1996  and 1998 he led DC United to two World Cups. Not to mention a supporters cup in 1995.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          Winning Formula  Taking over the Revolution will be a challenge. As an organization, the club has never won a US Cup. despite four attempts in the early part of the millennial. In 2000 the team won a US open cup trophy.                                                                                                                                                                                           The Future Ahead  By hiring Arena the Kraft family is sending a message that significant changes are coming. After their worst start in franchise history, the  team can only go up.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      As for the roster, the Revolution do have several players with plenty of upside.   Some talented names to watch are goalkeeper Cody Cropper, Midfielder, Scott Caldwell, forwards, Teal Bunbury, and Diego Fagundez.                                                                                                                                                                                                                    It will take some time, but look for Arena to do what needs to be done and bring a World Cup to Gillette stadium.
