Three NFL Free Agents That Would Help The Patriots Return Too The Super Bowl

With NFL free agency a week away, the New England Patriots need to decide who will lead them. With Tom Brady, a free agent for the first time, decisions  need to be made. At 43 Brady passed for 4,000 yards and threw 24 touchdowns. His overall rating was 85%.In this post, we will review three free agents that would help the Patriots win their 7th Super Bowl under Bill Belichick.

Three NFL Free Agents That Would Help The Patriots  Return Too The Super Bowl

Tom Brady For 43 years old  Tom Brady’s numbers are still pretty good. Considering he had limited receivers 24 touchdowns is not too shabby, If he and the Patriots cannot concur on a deal he would still be a bang for your buck.

With rumors flying, look for Brady and owner Robert Kraft to strike a deal at midnight on March 16th. If he does return, he needs people to throw the ball to. Receiver Julian Edelman was banged up. Rookies Nkeal harry and Jacobi Meyers were work in progress. Mohamed Sanu, acquired at the trade deadline, struggled to learn the system. With offseason help, Brady could stir New England back to the Super Bowl.
Derrick Henry The interesting aspect of Derrick Henry is his 1,187,000 dollar cap hit. Henry would be a steal for the right situation. He literally ran all over the Patriots in their wild _card win over the Patriots.
With Henry’s size, he would take tremendous pressure off of Brady. Drafted in 2016 by Tennessee,  his career numbers are 3833 yards, rushing and  38 touchdowns.
Logan Ryan  With safety Devin McCourty a free Logan Ryan would be a perfect fit. Drafted by Bill Belichick in2013 Ryan is familiar with the Patriots system.  Career _wise Ryan has 78 pass deflections,11 sacks, and 17 interceptions. With a 9.500,000 dollar cap hit Ryan would be a deal.

The Offseason The 2020 offseason could be the most important in Patriot history Whether or not to sign the greatest football player in NFL history. If a deal cannot get done with Brady, either a free agent or Jarrett Stidham is an option.
Whoever the quarterback is he needs to be surrounded by quality receivers. Look for the Patriots to spend a lot of money in free agency. The team finished a respectable 12-4 last season, with sensible signings Super Bowl seven may be in reach.

What The Red Sox Receive In Return For Mookie Betts And David Price

With last week’s blockbuster trade between the Dodgers and Red Sox fans are apprehensive. In 2019 they finished in third place at 84-78. Injuries to the starting pitching hindered any hope of repeating. Hopefully, Chris Sale and Nathan Eovaldi can stay healthy. In this post, we will examine three areas why the organization benefitted in the Mookie Betts trade.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                What The Red Sox receive In the Mookie Betts And David Price Trade                                                                                                                                                                                      Prospects   Their is a saying in baseball that prospects mean nothing.  This may be true with this trade. On the flip side, Dustin Pedroia’s career is over. The club has no real back up catcher behind Christian Vazquez. Kevin Plawecki was signed during the off_ season. Plawecki is a career 218  hitter spending time with the Mets and Indians.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         In return for Betts and Price, the Sox receive Catcher Connor Wong and infielder Jeter Downs. In three minor league seasons, Wong is a career 275 hitter. He has some pop with 48 home runs. Downs can play either shortstop or second base.  In a couple of years, Downs could be the starting second baseman The third player Alex Verdugo is a fourth outfielder. In two seasons with the Dodgers, he is a career 282 hitter.

Cap Flexibility  In 2019 the Red Sox had the highest payroll in baseball. Overall, the club spent 244 million dollars on David Price, Chris Sale, Nathan Eovaldi, and Stephen Pearce. All four players suffered season_ ending injuries.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        By moving Betts and Price, the Sox payrolls down to 193,000,000. Granted, the club has to pay 14,000,000 dollars of Prices contract. The deal does give the club some wiggle room to add another pitcher or two.                                                                                                                                                                                                                          Fresh Outlook  If anything the Red Sox have a fresh outlook  for the upcoming 2020 season.  the 2019 team was heavily criticized for being non _likable. Pitcher David Price lashed out at broadcaster Dennis  Eckersley. This did not sit well with fans and the media.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               If  Chris Sale and Nathan Eovaldi can stay healthy, the club should be better in 2020 even without Betts.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      Looking Ahead With a new manager in Ron Roenicke and a healthy pitching staff the Red Sox should have a successful 2020. Depending on the outcome of the cheating scandal  the Red Sox will move on from this grey cloud.

Why The Patriots Need Too Hit AGrand Slam This Off Season

With, the Kansas City Chiefs NFL Champions, the Patriots need to retool. With Tom Brady’s career winding down, the Patriots have several holes to fill. In this post, we will evaluate the three positions they need to focus on this offseason.                                                                                                                                                         Why The Patriots Need To Hit A Grandslam This Off  _Season.                                                                                                                                                                                                           Quarterback  With Tom Brady getting closer and closer to retiring a quarterback will be the radar. Georgia’s Jake Fromm could be available late in the first round. Known for his great pocket presence From is also challenges defences. Has average arm strength. Coming from a winning program/Georgia  will help in earn a spot in the NFL

Jacob Eason, pf Washington may also be available late in the first round.  Known for his deep passing, Eason led Washington to an 8-5 record in2019.

Free Agents If the  Patriots do not draft a quarterback, then free agency may be an option. Notable quarterbacks available are MarcusMariota, Teddy Bridgewater, Brian Hoyer, Ryan Fitzpatrick, and Jacoby Brissett.  Bridgewater is the best back for your buck at 27 years old. In 2019 Bridgewater threw for 13000 yards and 9 touchdowns.

Restructure The Offense  Despite going 12-4 in 2019 there were many issues on offense. The receiving group was thin. Rookies NKeal Harry and Jacobi Meyers were learning the system. At times Brady showed his frustration by yelling at his teammate’s                                                                                                                    Wideout Phillip Dorsett showed flashes but saw his playing time decrease. Mohamed Sanu was acquired at the trade deadline but also, struggled to pick up the offense.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  If Tom Brady does return in 2020 then he needs protection in order for the team to win. Look for Belichick to draft a  tackle in the early rounds. USC tack Austin Jackson would be a perfect fit. Guards Joe Thuney and Ted Karras are set to hit the open market. Veteran center Dave Andrews suffered a season_ ending illness. If he can return healthy, he would be a big boost to the line.                                                                                                                                                                                      Special Teams Early in the season kicker Stephen Gostkowski suffered a season_ending hip injury.  Halfway through the season, the Patriots relied on Nick Folk.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              If Gostkowski does not return, then free agency may be an alternative. Kicker Kimi Fairbairn of Houston is available. The four_year veteran could be a bargain with a salary of 3,000,000.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   2020, Outlook  For the Patriots the future hinges on signing Tom Brady. The Patriots have 49,000,000 dollars in cap space . Drafting and signing receivers is priority number one. The Patriots need to find a tight end. Rob Gronkowski never returned. The 2020 offseason should be one of the most challenging ones in recent memory.
